The Tickle Inn offers more than accommodation, it is a vacation experience. This typical old outport home has been designated a Registered Heritage Structure by the Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador. In 1874, William Adams became the first recorded inhabitant of Cape Onion, a picturesque cove at the tip of the Great Northern Peninsula. He constructed the original part of the house in the 1890's. As the family grew, each generation extended the house and now the fourth generation has carefully preserved and restored it.

In Newfoundland a tickle refers to a narrow passage of water separating two land forms and is usually "ticklish" to get through.

There are several tickles in the waters around Cape Onion. A dictionary meaning of tickle is "to please, entertain or delight". Need we say more?
